Exdo Event center held Westwards’ 2010 DISH. A wild evening filled with music, performance, and of course food from over 37 restaurants in the Denver area. Super cool. The Event also featured a few other non-food vendors such as Soapoint Graphics and several beverage companies.
The Westword gang needed to solve a problem for the DISH. The year before all of the restaurant names were featured on the front of each table in the event center. The problem formed once the crowd filled the room and you couldn’t read the signs anymore. Enter Soapoint. We devised some inexpensive, but highly effective sign stands that enabled us to get the restaurant names above the crowd. This allowed you to pick out your favorite spot for a nibble, or to remember the name of the guys that just hooked you up with some free grub. Custom stands, custom signs, real results.
Along with our involvement in the interior signage, we also did some other way finding signs throughout the event, as well as some simple, yet effective banners on some existing hardware on the building outside of the event. These banners hung for a week before the show and helped with awareness. Looking good Westword!
Behind the venue in the alley, there were also a string of vendors in what was known as DISH Alley. Who better to pull up the end slot on this area than Soapoint Graphics. We brought in our new mobile screen print station, set up shop and got down to cooking up some sweet custom shirts. The press features a 2 screen scenario that would allow a 2 color print, or dual 1 color prints. The booth was simplistic, with lots of sweet stuff to give away. Darius Vale of Soapoint Graphics put it down with some custom Soapoint designs for the event. We brought in 4 colors of shirts and had an option of 2 graphics. How sweet for a FREE T-Shirt! There were people lined up and down the alley to get a piece of the Soapoint action. Some free stickers and great friends topped off the evening. It was pretty dope to be part of the Westword action, and to leave our SPG mark on the event. See ya next year!

2010 Gravity Challenge
It was another fun experience for us at the 2010 Gravity Challenge Skate/BMX Competition. It was held at the Redstone Skate Park in Highlands Ranch and hosted many talented kids that tore up the park. This was the first competition for the Highlands Ranch Metro District that also included BMX in the line-up, and it was a success! So many kids and young adults came out to mash alongside each other, it was an energy filled day.
We have previously teamed up with the HR Metro District for other skate comps and when they asked us to be a part of this year’s Gravity Challenge, we jumped at the chance. As many of you know, we not only love to help out in our community in any way we can, but a few of the keys players around Soapoint are very passionate about the skate/bmx world and they were thrilled to be involved. We created custom designed t-shirts and stickers for the event that were included in the prize packs and also just handed out. We showed up in full support and were there to hang with all the riders and boarders.
The turnout was better than expected and everyone was there to have a blast. All the participants in the various competitions held during the day were all amazing! Every time I attend one of these events I am always blown away by some of the hidden talent out there. There was even a 6 year old little boy who hit the jumps on his miniature bmx bike like a true pro. It was a fun day enjoyed by all and the kids loved our support and they especially loved the stickers and t-shirts. Click here to see a great pic from the competition. We always have a dynamite time and we love helping with these events. We can’t wait to help with the next competition, and maybe even have our own……keep an eye out!

When I won an acupuncture treatment at Denver Community Acupuncture I was so excited! Not only because we loved working with them and providing their signage needs, but also because they are such great people and I have been wanting to see them for acupuncture treatments. Ever since we started working with them I realized they had a great idea and amazing energy. Their approach is simple; offer affordable health care for a healthy community. They offer flexible pricing on an income based range and also unique community treatment. Going back to the roots of Chinese Medicine acupuncture was performed in a community/group setting. This is how many people practice acupuncture to this day and DCA has embraced the idea. By being able to take several people at a time they are able to treat more people and keep the costs down for you and me. I have to say I was a little hesitant to the idea at first, of sharing my acupuncture treatment experience with other people right next to me. I am no stranger to acupuncture and have gone many times before for chronic pain, but I was excited to try a new way of experiencing it.
Walking into Denver Community Acupuncture, the energy hits you immediately! Feelings of joy, peacefulness, relaxation and clarity fill the air. Every detail of the décor had also been thought out; the calming colors on the walls, light incense aromas, colorful fabrics and textiles and artwork and decorations that all contributed to the amazing feelings the space and treatments gave you. I waited for a short time in the front lobby area and enjoyed some hot tea they also offer while you wait. Jessica Goodman was my acupuncturist and she came and got me and escorted me to a private consultation room where we could talk. She went over my paperwork with all my medical history and current conditions. We talked for a while about everything together and discussed a plan of action for treatment. Jessica was very professional and caring, and I felt completely comfortable and was excited to start my treatment!
She then led me to the back of the space where they have their community acupuncture room. The lights were low and ambient music filled the air. The space definitely felt warm and cozy. No one else was in there yet, as I was the first appointment of the day. Jessica sat me down and explained where she would be putting needles and explained what each point was suppose to do. In this type of acupuncture environment you are not required to take all your clothes off, just to wear loose fitting clothing so they can reach specific areas. I laid back in a super comfy recliner with my feet up and rolled my pant legs up. She started with my hands and wrists and then moved to my ear and finally my legs and feet. The needles were placed in particular spots that correlate with areas in your body that need attention. They also restore the balance of energy and Qi (Chee) moving throughout your body. The needles don’t hurt going in like many people think. There can be a slight pinch and then a dull ache when they are put in. The dull ache and/or no pain mean they are working. Once they are all in she leaves me for about 40 minutes to relax and let the treatment take effect. Almost immediately you feel a change in your body and feel the positive energy restore and flow. You also can go into a meditation like state where you feel absolutely relaxed and peaceful. The experience is truly one everyone should try and I am and avid believer that acupuncture could help many people if they gave it a chance.
About 20 minutes in Jessica came back into the room with another patient. “Alright”, I thought, “Let’s see how this works with multiple people being treated, will it be weird or uncomfortable?” She led them behind me and checked on me on her way by. She was very careful to whisper and be quiet as to not disturb my treatment experience. I have to say, I could not really even hear her or the other patient speaking, it was still very private and peaceful. After she was done treating them she left and we both were there enjoying our treatment. I was so into my own experience I didn’t even think about the other people in the room and we all just closed our eyes and took it all in. It was actually comforting to have other people around who are all there for similar reasons and contributing to a positive healing atmosphere. A little later Jessica returned and took all the needles out. She next did an herbal heat treatment on specific spots on my body, and then I was done.
When I was upfront and scheduling my next appointment I also got information on some of the other services they offer at DCA. They also have two massage therapists available with amazing treatments, and also an intuitive healing counselor that will help you figure out why you are feeling ill and how to get better. Next time I will definitely take advantage of these! My whole experience there was so great! I can’t wait to go back and create a relationship with them on a regular basis. They have an amazing idea and the attitude to achieve it. I am definitely going to recommend them to everyone I know and I can’t wait to see them really take off. Thanks go to Denver Community Acupuncture and especially Jessica Goodman and Nikole Maxey, good luck ladies!

Working here at Soapoint is an amazing experience. It's definitely hard work, but we do get to have fun and play. This past weekend I got to go to my first BMX competition/show for Soapoint. Our good friend Brian Gavagan, invited us to both sponsor and attend this exciting show. If you don't know who Brian Gavagan is, well check it out, he is not only one of the most talented BMXers' in the nation for several years now, but he also owner/participant of Yellow Designs and Yellow Stunt Team. You may have seen or heard of the Yellow Designs Stunt Team, you can find them often performing at games, shows and they even travel all around the world. I had always wanted to see them and their amazing talent live. I was super excited to be able to go to the show as well as be a sponsor. We love to support our friends and being involved in this event was a great opportunity to show our support and have some fun.
Walking into the huge indoor skate park at the Colorado Mills mall was overwhelming. It definitely reminded me of Rob Dydrek's Fantasy Factory but this had nothing but sick ramps, rails and bowls. There were kids, and adults everywhere; roller blades, bmx bikes and skate boards were zooming past me. We had to walk to the very back where Yellow has their private practice area, and it was scary to go through the rushing traffic of the skaters, BMXers' and rollerbladers. Mike had to direct me when to go and where to walk. I really loved the energy in the air, you could see every person in there pushing themselves to be better, but loving it all at the same time. I couldn't believe there were kids in there as young as 4 or 5 years old! If the 4 year old with the pink princess helmet can skateboards over the ramp, so can I! I wanted to be a part of that energy and push myself to the outer limits, maybe one of these days I actually will.
The first part of the day was the competitions, beginner, intermediate and then pro. Everyone was sooo good. I couldn't believe how talented they all were, I could never do some of those tricks. Back flips on a bike over a ramp, what!?! I didn't like when they fell though, it didn't happen very often, but when it did it was nasty to see. One kid kept attempting this trick where he would spin and turn in the air and he kept landing hard with the bike on top of him. But they always got back up and kept doing the trick until they got it, and I really admired that in all of them. I definitely got a better understanding of the life of a BMXer/skater/rollerblader, but I still do think they are crazy, lol!
After the competitions were all over Yellow Designs Stunt Team hosted a party back in their practice area and gave us a show with all 9 of the guys on the team. Now those guys are good, I mean gooooood! So fast, such sweet tricks, such height they flew! I was blow away by their ability and talent. We had some food and drinks and got to just hang and have fun with a bunch of great people. At the end of the night it was finally time to leave and I promised I would be back to watch and maybe participate. I had such a great time and it was so exciting. I got to see a whole different world of full excitement, passion, perseverance, blood, sweat and tears. I can't wait to see another show and to become more involved in the world of BMX, skateboarding and rollerblading. I also thank Soapoint for allowing me to have these great experiences! What could be better than hitting the skate park to show off some sweet new tricks and also getting some sick Soapoint swag? Well, nothing! A little while ago we had the amazing opportunity to be involved with the Ruler of the Railz Skate Competition held at Redstone Skatepark in Highlands Ranch. The Soapoint team is big on contributing to a good cause and this was no exception. As our part, we made and donated over 70 shirts to give away. Each top ranking kid from each level received a swag bag that included other gifts along with some sweet Soapoint t-shirts and stickers. But, we never like to see anyone walk away without anything, so at the end there was a free-for-all t-shirt throwing extravaganza. Luckily, there were no injuries and everyone lived to ride another day. You should have seen it, kids and t-shirts flying everywhere! It was a mad grab for an exclusive Soapoint T-shirt, even though some kids got the wrong size shirts, they didn't care. The competition was separated into several different levels depending on age. There were kids ranging in age from 6 to 15 tearing it up everywhere! The tricks were amazing, the speed dizzying, and the height they flew impressive. I've never seen an eight year old land such a sick nollie heel flip down a 5 stair.
All in all, it was another amazing event for Soapoint Graphics. Not only did we get to be involved with a worthy cause and donate to the Ruler of the Railz, but as many of you may or may not know, Soapoint has always been down with the skate, BMX and any other form of sport that greatly endangers ones front teeth. "Growing up in small town Kansas, the skate and BMX groups we had got us through the boring days and kept us out of trouble. It means a lot to give support to the younger crowd and encourage them to do constructive things with their time instead of getting into trouble. Having the dedication that these kids do for the sports they love is inspiring, I even brought my bike with me and jumped into the bowls and shredded for awhile. It was a lot of fun and we can't wait to get involved with some more community events in the Denver area." Owner Mike Hornbeck.
We would like to thank Amber Garrett for the opportunity to be a part of such a fun event.

Soapoint Graphics acquired a few more draft picks that add even more dynamics to the entourage.
The first pick is Pro Graphic Install (AKA PGI Wraps). PGI has moved into our new space on Larimer
and add even more to our credible and proven installation techniques. Soapoint will provide a great
force in the design, and print game for PGI as they look to increase their position in the league of
design print and install. PGI will install nearly anything with the poise and technique you would
expect from a team with over 10 years of experience. Installation manager Daniel Bremner has
stuck vinyl for some big names in the industry all over the country and has several large installation
trips planned for the coming months. These include over 350 vehicle wraps for companies like,
Coors, ESPN, Chrysler, NBA All Stars, and many NHRA drag race teams across the nation.
To keep bragging on PGI a bit more, Dan recently placed in the top 10 at the ISA's national "Wrap Off"
that was presented by Lowen Graphics (www.lowen.com) in Las Vegas, NV this year. This Win for the
home team resulted in Dans trip to Hutchinson, KS where he went through rigorous testing to gain
Lowen Certification and also 3M certification. Most certainly he is a memeber of the elite group of
installers that carry this honor. These guys will nail it for you everytime, call Daniel at 303-945-6977
to schedule with him and look them up on the web at www.pginstall.com, and www.pgiwraps.com.
The second pick went for Kimberly McCoy. From the world of interior design with strong management
skills she joins the team to keep us all lined up. She will be known as Company Director/ PR Specialist.
Kimberly will be keeping up with our social medias, Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter, polishing the website
regularly with new photos and fun updates about team Soapoint, mingling at social events and keeping us
all positive and cohesive. Good luck out there Kim.
There is alot going on with team Soapoint so keep an eye on the website.
